Douglas C. Mills Executive Vice President Media Research Center Even though they virtually dominate the media on televisionand in print, liberals are now poised to go after the top prize:talk radio. Despite the fact that there is no market for their radical ideas, they are building the case to use the FCC to censor free speechby resurrecting the Fairness Doctrine - a blatant form of governmentcontrol of ideas that could banish the conservative voice fromthe airwaves! Right now, a bill is being prevented from getting to the floorfor a vote by liberal leadership in Congress. This bill - theBroadcaster Freedom Act -- would permanently ban the so-called"Fairness Doctrine" and bring about true Radio Independence onceand for all! + + Conservative Action Awaits Each year, we celebrate our country’s Independence on July 4.This year, we'd like to celebrate Radio Independence Day, butwe need your help! I think it is totally unconstitutional for the government and courts to try to involve themselves in punishing people over plagiarism. It's a little off topic from the Below the Beltway article, but I've gotta say this: it's not right for plagiarism to be considered the most serious sin and for a student in school to get in legal trouble for plagiarizing, while people who openly talk about wanting to be serial killers don't even get reprimanded by teachers. (They tell you to report bloodthirsty statements, which I repeatedly heard from a classmate in high school, yet if you do, they'll say there hasn't yet been a crime and that they can't do anything . . .) The fallacy is so obvious that I realized that the only reason the government is so big on punishing supposed plagiarism, and why it censors family-oriented stuff and lets graphic scenes air on TV, is due to the twisted, distorted, warped, demented sense of what's constitutional. Can't citizens handle the issue of plagiarism themselves by just ignoring the plagiarized material, instead of the government hitting a person who does it with a hammer? I don't know why it's become such a big deal to the government, other than that it's an excuse to attack the first amendment.

Creationist,
My wife teaches English in a high school in a barrio where there's plenty of violence and gangs to deal with, but that doesn't make cheating unimportant. I've been with her while she grades papers, and occasionally an eloquent thesis will be presented by a student whose compositions skills are neglible. Sure enough, we took a whole sentence to the Google test, and found the paper had been lifted from a website that essentially fosters plagiarism.
There's nothing with repeating another's words...at least there shouldn't be...as long as proper credit is given.

Tell your wife for me that I think she has a lot of courage to do the disciplinary actions of a teacher amongst kids who are not just unruly, but violent. My uncle used to be a principal near an Indian reservation in Minnesota, and angry minority kids (mostly Indians) would have injured him on numerous occasions if he weren't physically stronger. It's probably scarier for women. So tell your wife for me that she's brave! The plagiarism thing should be pretty easy to deal with: just fail the paper. It's not something to go to court over, though, like they were always threatening my classes could happen in elementary school and beyond! Can't people resolve things without the nanny state's help?

Any day we answer the Calls To Acton, is a day spent well working to keep America great... What will you do today? It is a new day, as the global warming has begun anew yet again. But, don't tell Albot! (chicken little)

Mark, Only two weeks ago, I stood at a podium on Capitol Hilland told everyone gathered that many in Congress and theBush Administration were "playing games with border security--talking a good game of building the fence, while at the sametime doing everything in their power to make sure that it isnever built." Now our backs are against the wall, Mark. At the end ofthis year all obligations for DHS to build the fence ends, leaving our borders open for invasion. Worse yet, our next President, be it Obama or McCain are bothhorribly lax on border security. This is it. If we are ever to see a real border fence securing ourborders, grassroots Americans must respond in force, right now! ++ A Grassroots Shutdown of Congress--July 9-10 Mark, beginning on July 9, I am calling on ALL members of ourteam to help me shutdown the switchboards and fax machines in EVERYCongressional office with the simple demand to build the fence aspromised! Please click here to learn more, and to tell me I can count on youto call your Congressman: www.grassfire.net/r.asp?U=8506&CID=242&RID=16457885 I'm tired of being made a fool of by DHS, The President and certainmembers of Congress who think they can put up substandard fencing andthen report with all smiles that they are following the will of thepeople. Mark, it's simply not true, and I want them to hear aboutit from tens of thousands of grassroots Americans who know better. The double-layered fence that was passed into law is NOT being built, and I want some accountability before it's too late! Here's what I need you to do: ++Action Item 1--Call your Congressman on July 9 and 10 Over a two-day period, I want phone lines literally jammedby grassroots Americans calling and demanding support forH.R. 4987-- the reinstatement of the original fence mandate! It is up to us to move this bill forward to the House floor--not to mention you deserve to know where yourCongressman stands on border security and the double-layered fence that we’ve been promised.

After you sign the "Recapture the Flag" petition, you get the opportunity to write something that could be posted on a new site that will premier around July 4. Here's what I wrote:
Congress should be holding the judiciary and executive branch accountable, rather than pushing for a 1.2 trillion dollar Marxist global warming tax. It should be using its power to reverse the course of the executive branch from a police state back to simple, CONSTITUTIONAL law enforcement. All the special interest groups have no place in a republic; we are a republic instead of a majority-rule populist democracy. Let's recapture the flag and fight the problems of illegal immigration and judicial activism!

action.downsizedc.org/wyc.php?cid=54The site says these are the resolutions being voted on next week by the House: 1. Create an international blockade of Iran to prevent it from importing the refined gasoline it needs to run its economy 2. Subject all cargo entering or leaving Iran to stringent inspections 3. Tighten economic sanctions against Iran 4. Violate international treaties by prohibiting Iranian officials not involved in negotiating the suspension of Iran's nuclear program from travelling abroad. Applying economic sanctions when Iran has never attacked us is the same tactic FDR did to create a desperate economic state for Japan in 1940. Consequently, Japan went on a ravaging conquest in the Pacific area to stay afloat economically, directly due to FDR's foreign policy.

GRASSFIRE HAS ASKED US ALL TO CONTACT OUR CONGRESSMEN TODAY!
They think we will make a greater impact if we all call or fax or e-mail our reps today. Below is what they suggest we say. But being creative you may want to do your own. What ever you choose [glow=red,2,300]do it today[/glow]! Still unable to access board, Sbenn
Dear Senator Z or Congressman X:
The time is now to take a stand for the taxpaying citizens of our nation who are demanding secured borders. I am urging you to join with other elected leaders who are supporting a vital piece of legislation H.R. 4987, The Fence by Date Certain Act-leading to the construction of a 700 mile double-layered fence that enhances our national security and provides the first step in comprehensive immigration reform.
This is precisely the fence that was promised to the American people before certain elected officials gutted the bill-allowing the DHS to construct substandard fencing and barriers that outrageously include chain-link and picket!
Make no mistake, our nation is under attack. Illegal immigration is a very real and dangerous threat to the United States economy, American jobs, and the safety and well-being of the American people. A permanent solution is necessary, and construction of a double-layered fence would be an important first step in accomplishing that task.
This is not a Democratic or a Republican issue rather it is an American issue. The American borders are falling apart and it is time to protect them. I urge you to co-sponsor H.R. 4987, The Fence by Date Certain Act.

And another thing we all can get involved in is www.downsizedc.org - DownsizeDC sends daily "dispatches" by email with links to letters we can send by email. It is one of the best groups, I think.
