This FOCUS thread can be used to post pertinent news of national and local interest for coalition members. We can discuss items here, and create specific plans of action to post in Calls To Action. We should all begin posting in the appropriate locations in an effort to keep the most important items of interest and plans of action from being diluted. Also, PLEASE keep in mind, you are the Thompson Coalition, and we are always looking for current info, links and articles. Bring a friend for a visit! Send us your input @ feedback@thompsoncoalition.com Don't forget to visit www.pinnaclecascade.com You'll enjoy it...

Also remember, if you send an article to include at the Thompson Coalition include a short paragraph that leads into the article and the article URL.
Thanks

Thanks for keeping me and all the true conservatives that want to stand up for America informed. I personally read your columns and appreciate your good for conservatism. May we win back our conservative messages that seem to be lost to the up coming candidates. We are proud of America and race is certainly no issue in our conservatism beliefs nor sexist. I believe the Democrats have shown their true colors during this race for the Presidency. I wish Fred could have been there to stress our credentials. That is what makes us stand out from the Democrats. Having said this I will continue to put out our message where I can. Thanks to all have a great day!

I have to wonder why threads like this go left to the wayside, while threads that only waste time seem to get plenty of attention... There are many threads of this nature left unattended. Fred Thompson News... What is it for? Oh, but how nice it would be if Fred would only be asked to return to Law and Order, huh? Think about it... Hey, jump all over this one... Let me know who you are, and what you think... I WANT TO KNOW!!!

rinoHUNTER- I do agree with you that some threads get much more attention than they should, some of mine included. I suggest if a thread doesn't get any comments within a certain period of time, they should be removed, again some of mine included. You won't hurt my feelings. I did start 2 new threads today to encourage some thoughts and comments on some issues that I believe are very important to all American citizens. I have refrained from saying incitful things in those threads like McCain supports this or other trashing. We do have people here that support McCain and I respect their rights to their opinions. It does seem though that on every blog site, people get off topic in certain threads, and bring in everything in the kitchen sink. I have found that when you bring up new topics for discussuion (and they should be pertinent to the cause) that sometimes it gets very lively and gives people more to think about and read. I have tried to keep my random thoughts to the Townhall Thread. Is this what you were asking about in your above post?

So if I understand correctly, this thread was set up to specifically address critical matters, kind of like the "Open Thread Town Hall" one is supposed to be miscellaneous? And this way, we can keep some of these important matters from being neglected, as is the case with many of the earlier threads?

I just watched some old Fred YouTube videos and thought about what a soothing, commanding, respected persona he is. The thought never fails to come back, that he was able to confound the media and do a campaign that didn't require a ludicrous amount of time. The media won't give you the time of day as a candidate if you're not rich. Fred was able to do things Duncan Hunter couldn't. It remains clear as a bell to me, as much as the first time I saw Fred08 and the views expressed there, that he is the man for the time. I never was so interested in politics before I saw Fred Thompson (on the internet). I hope the petition is set up soon (licking my lips).

Sbenn asked last night for people's top five ideas for change for the next Republican primaries (if we even have elections in four years . . .). The discussion, I think, belongs in this all-important "FOCUS" thread. I came up with three top changes: 1. No cross-voting or winner-take-all primaries. 2. Make the GOP keep results confidential until all states have voted. Provide top security so spies for the media don't get the numbers/results. 3. Have a maximum of three states vote in one week, which could give us 50 primaries to less than 17 weeks (with 3 primaries a week), or more (with fewer than 3 some weeks). This way, the most popular candidate at a given time doesn't necessarily win. It will help to balance out the shifts in popularity, and show who really keeps people's trust consistently, instead of giving us McCain because he was at the top of the polls on Super Tuesday.

Two things we can do right now, in addition to the petition-signing through Grassfire and other conservative organizations:
1. Pursue amending the primaries via a petition at the Thompson Coalition site (directed to the GOP's HQ). 2. If possible, those who live close enough can attend a McCain & Fred event in NC next week to meet Fred and tell him about our sites!
A third thing: 3. Call conservative radio people, talk to them about our concerns (which won't be anything new to them), and mention our sites (message board and Thompson Coalition, of course).
Above all, PRAY.

Thank You Friends for opening my eyes to what is really behind these abbreviations that have been in the news for years(NAFTA, NAU, LOST etc....). I see that there is so much more going on directly under my nose while I joined in the cheerleading squad. This isn't Friday Night Lights, it is our very existence as a sovereign nation at the hand of the people we gave that power. Just a question, don't we need to be flooding the RNC to stop the next leg of the behind the curtain proceedings of someone even worse than GWB? I was a Bushie but his 2nd term absolutely disappointed me and now I find out REALLY why!

Just a question, don't we need to be flooding the RNC to stop the next leg of the behind the curtain proceedings of someone even worse than GWB? I was a Bushie but his 2nd term absolutely disappointed me and now I find out REALLY why! You know, JB Williams, the author of a couple New Media Journal articles that really got me thinking about a deliberate connection between these freak things like amnesty and international crises, is the same man who claims McCain is 85% conservative! Fancy that! Well he got ME more interested in the matter of globalization! This thread really belongs in "Calls to Action", for it's really about doing that. So the dilemma now is, do we go with the Constitution Party, try to save the Republican Party, or try to stop Bush? Maybe all three would be in order. I know we can "build bridges" with Ron Paul supporters via the internet. There are thousands upon thousands of people--actually millions--who just want a powerful enough movement that they can dare to believe in! Not Obama's, not Fred's, but OURS!!!!! This is not about one individual, after all. Is LOST the Law of the Sea Treaty? (abbreviations.com)

INSERT DATE HERE
To the Republican Party:
Since you welcome suggestions for amending future primaries in election cycles, I am taking the time to write them to you. First, only registered Republicans should be allowed to vote in any primaries. Second, you should simplify the process by apportioning, as closely as possible, one delegate per voting district, with fairness regarding population distribution. No winner-take-all primaries should be allowed. Also, voting machines need to be protected from rigging, and tested numerous times before being officially activated. On top of that, you should not reveal voting results of any state until all states have voted, and be vigilant in protecting that confidential information. I suggest you allow people, on ballots, to list their favorite candidates to their least favorite candidates in order. This will prevent injustices, such as people having to choose between Huckabee and McCain without being able to show their order of favorite to least favorite. Keeping every candidate on every ballot will ensure a fair primary system.
I hope you will consider these changes and do all you can to prevent the abuses we have seen this year from ever happening again. The primaries should not be a “momentum” game that involves dropping out of the race if you lose “strategic” states. Please amend the system and restore confidence in the Republican Party as a respectable, receptive party!
Sincerely,
YOUR NAME
