Hi~ I wanted to write a little about why I first became a Fred Thompson supporter...and eventually a complete FredHead! The future of our conservative Republican Party....actually, the future of America really depends on one thing...Our young people! After all, they will eventually be the one's to care for and protect our nation. It is beyond my imagination how our schools have become so liberal leaning. American children are being indoctrinated daily into a liberal mindset by our own educational system. My 3rd grader brought home a paper that had the kids come up with ways they can be a good "world citizen"....the questions were so leading. On the back of the paper I helped her right why it is important to be a good American citizen. She had brought home another paper that asked her to write about her neighborhood and it's motto, our state and it's motto, totally skipped our nation and our motto "IN God We Trust", except to ask what country do you live in....and went right into world society bs! The wording on most of her worksheets are so leading that a young student has no choice but to answer the way the paper wants them too....it is scary! Once I had my daughter in tears (she didn't want to get in trouble!).....I wouldn't allow her to answer a question...I did in pen and wrote a note to the teacher that if she had any questions about my answer or my actions to let me know...I never heard from her. I do realize that she doesn't select the papers...she has to hand them out.....which is why I have so many problems with the NEA and their un-American policies that they have made standard in American classrooms. My 15 year old son has an extremely liberal history/government teacher....you should hear the BS that she tells these kids....the fact that she tells her students we are in Iraq for oil outrages me, but what I hate even more is that she totally trashes America every chance she gets! She actually told her students, my son, that America has never gone to war if there wasn't something in it for "them" (like she is not even an American...personally...if she doesn't like it here I wish she should leave!) I am proud to say that my son and a girl in his class have started calling out the teacher on her bs...especially when she starts trashing America. I know that it is hard to stand up to someone in authority like a teacher...and usually I would be horrified if my child "misbehaved" but, in this case I am so proud that he is standing up for what he believes in and as a bonus the other kids in the class have a chance to hear some opinions from the "right" side of things! (just for the record...our school does have a couple of patriotic American teachers) It is a pitiful shame when students in American high schools are not learning that America is a great country. A country that we should all stand up proudly for! Anyway, my point being that Fred Thompson hit the nail on the head when he spoke about fixing our educational system. He saw that it was a real problem, a risk, to the future security of our country. Fixing the educational system is the reason that first brought me to Fred Thompson..... but after learning more about him.....and it didn't take long......I jumped in with both feet....and this is exactly where I intend to stay! ~sheryl *I hope that other strong conservatives will take up this issue....it is one that certainly needs to be addressed! I am considering running for the school board. I a "newbee" here and wouldn't have much of a chance to win.....but I might just get my point across which is my goal!

sheryl- I love your posts, they are in such real time with very real ideas and opinions. I don't have children, however, our liberal education system has all but bankrupted our childrens future. What happened to the time when history was all about how great America is. I feel sorry for the parents with college age children as well. They are literally cesspools filled with the likes of Ward Churchill. There is no balance of all ideas. Keep doing what you are doing with your children- they will be the future great Americans with responsibility and a sense of what is right. We need more parents like you. Go for it with the School Board run!!!!

Reading the article by Brett Winterble in Human Events made me laugh as I work for a small business owner Builder here in VA. He as well as everyone else in the office of all 5 employees are all from New Jersey and New York. I guess I qulaified for the Accounting job as I am originally from PA. I literally for years would try to defend myself here in VA saying I grew up in small town PA years ago when personal responsibility and good character meant something. I truly have been embarrassed to say I am a Yankee. My fellow employees always have their hands out expecting more and more, even though they are so lazy they won't get off their as- to do much of anything. They brought their NY and NJ values with them. The owner is from NJ and has bought and developed many sub-divisions (and planted house seeds on them), and has developed Condo communities. He is so not well liked or respected in the area it is laughable. His business has not only slowed down, but has almost come to a screeching halt. There are still some projects committed to that he is forced into finishing. Since I put the Fred08 sticker on my car months ago, I get some real dirty looks and have been laughed at literally. I know just what Mr. Winterble is talking about. I see more NY license plates in the area than you could believe. My husband and I are very seriously thinking about moving to a more friendly republican stronghold where if you are not a republican, you don't get the time of day.

dieseldog06~ Thank you so much for you comment on my posts....i have been a reader of all of ya'lls posts for a long time... even back in the "fred08" days. It is only because of the encouragement I recieved from many of you here, after finally being so angry with one of the trolls where I just had to write, that I finally started writing how I feel about things. Sometimes people agree and sometimes they don't....and that is just fine with me....I honestly feel that the group of people gathered here are some of the kindest and most sincere people I have "met" in a very long time. God's blessing to you all! ~sheryl
* It was my intent to just ignore the troll...but I just couldn't help myself!

Neither of my children get to do their social studies/civics homework without Dad looking at the questions. And, I add all of the commentary that I feel necessary to get the point across to them that this is not a Democracy. This is a Republic of 50 sovereign states, and that 90% of the current policies of the federal government violates the constitution. And, that federalism is what made the country great.
I can't run for the BOE in my district. My wife is the athletic director for the district. She was a teacher before going into administration. She's a conservative, but she and I have had many "discussions" about the NEA and the damage that they have done to future generations.
Our situation, in small town rural Oklahoma, is a bit different. The schools here do a pretty good job of teaching the three r's and not getting involved in the social engineering aspects of the NEA and their ilk's agenda. But, I can feel it gradually sliding that way, and I'm fighting it tooth and nail.

You won't believe it (or maybe you will), but my 4th grader's teacher is telling them that the GREEN PARTY is one they should get behind! We had a long discussion about that this morning... he's back to being a conservative again! Funny thing, he knew right away when I went over the Green Party platform that it was all wrong!

There is strength in numbers and I bet, if all true conservatives united together, we could out number MoveOn.org and other left wing groups.

And that is the driving purpose behind the Thompson Coalition: 1. To make all the splintered Conservative groups aware of one another and what actions they are concentrating on. 2. To call all the different groups to action when one of the groups has a special focus that needs to be acted upon by all Conservatives. 3. To promote those different groups and their web sites. 4. To promote Conservative Candidates for the House and Senate and for state elections.

Most parents have no clue what their children are being taught. What is disguised as education is nothing less than indoctrination of Communism and a one world order.

I am considering running for the school board. I a "newbee" here and wouldn't have much of a chance to win.....but I might just get my point across which is my goal! That's so commendable ! Your kids are taking up the American spirit and gaining respect from their peers. No one who stands for a cause cannot be respected, as long as there's not name-calling and fist-fighting . Keep your friends here updated if you run for the school board! The most striking thing I've noticed about education is that people are so focused on electronics and hanging out with friends that they never learn their spelling and grammar and have trouble making simple, sensible decisions. The news tells us all about the absurd, foolish, and often destructive decisions that kids and adults alike make. Dysfunctional families breed developmentally challenged kids, who, in turn, eventually become daycare workers and take care of more kids from dysfunctional families. I read some research about the correlation between excessive TV at early ages and behavioral problems. TV is often not mind-stimulating today. About the only time I watch TV (although I watch movies from previous decades) is in motel rooms. I flip through the channels, and half of them have commercials. The other ones are modern-day sitcoms that look dumb to me, along with sports, news, and some outdoor hiking that's being filmed! I always wonder, "Is it just that I'm not used to the new stuff, or has the quality actually deteriorated from the 50s and 60s shows I cherish?" I'm leaning toward the second option.
