This is basically my nightmare. Many things in this article I have already been thinking...and other points.....something new to worry about......and a few I think might be a little far-fetched. All in all, the honest truth is I am afraid of a McCain presidency....almost equal with a clinton one....the only thing that scares me more is an obama one. Anyway I look at it, I am horrified by the potential disaster this general election is offering us. I feel it is important to focus much of our attention into getting conservative Americans into every available office and hopefully they can stand as a buffer to anything a liberal presidency might attempt. My dream........... Fred Thompson would come riding on his white horse (RED PICKUP) to save us all!!!  ~sheryl |

In reference to the above linked article, where is the liberal media with the Soros connection to McCain. I believe from the article there is proof of the connections thru his Reform Society or whatever it's called. Was the NYT hit piece only the beginning or will the liberal media keep this quite as it's linked to Mr. Daily Kos himself Soros or Mr. Moveon.org Soros. This dodo is getting deeper and deeper. I don't think I have botts high enough unless I borrow my husbands waders.

When Fred was fully in this, they couldn't attack him on issues so they went after his style. I know I cannot vote for either of the other two - that is a certainty. |

I know I cannot vote for either of the other two - that is a certainty. Unfortunately I think that is the quandary that most of us Conservatives will find ourselves in come November. Having to vote for the lesser of two evils and basing that decision on only 1 or 2 our our "core" issues. |

gwtwins- That is a great key word "quandry". I think that is how alot of us are feeling. Again, I am hoping I think against hope that something will happen before or at the convention. As Krell said, this is only the tip of the iceberg with the lobbyist issue. There are so many more to come. When I think of his involvement in the Keating scandal, and he not getting more than a slap on the hand for using "bad judgement", would you want someone as president that apparently doesn't know how to use good judgement?

I think somebody else on this board has said this before, but every election is a choice of the lesser of evils. [Even Fred was a big supporter of CFR.] It just sucks that this time, the lesser evil is way more evil than we're used to! |

Many members of the CFR have worked for Conservative Principles.
It's like any other group, you have good and bad. It would be the right thing to do, though, to open meetings to the public. It would remove the sinister quality, and expose the true agenda of all members... We don't need the agenda of only the rich elites making all policy unopposed!!!

Yes Brad. That's why we have to get this new web site going and pull all these conservatives in one direction.
The President cannot spend (at least not directly) on single cent of taxpayer money; only Congress can.
The President cannot put anyone on the bench; only the legislative branch can.
The President cannot pass a single piece of legislation, only the legislative branch can.
Even if Fred pulls out a miraculous win at the Convention, he still needs solid Conservatives in the House and Senate. He can do very little without the right team members. So, one very positive thing that has come out of this election is the awareness of the Congressional and Senatorial races that are usually neglected during a Presidential election.
Our mission is clear. We must elect Conservatives to the House and Senate.

Just to clarify-- the CFR to which I was referring was campaign finance reform, not the council on foreign relations you guys are talking about. I'll be more careful!!!
