SEPTEMBER 11, 2008 - PATRIOT DAYDO YOU REMEMBER the banner that flew over the wreckage of the World Trade Center that read, "WE WILL NEVER FORGET"? One of the best ways I have found to REMEMBER, is to honor the POLICE and FIRE FIGHTERS in my town with HOMEMADE OATMEAL COOKIES!!!!!! We must HONOR their daily sacrifice, as well as RESPECT their beautiful BROTHERHOOD, and REMEMBER that they lost 343 of their BROTHERS, on that horrible day... As horrible as that day was for us..... it was, and still is, worse for them..... DON'T FORGET the ones in the city of your workplace, if it is a different city than where you live, as they help to keep you safe at work!!! Get your boss to SEND THOSE GUYS A PIZZA!!!!! Let's HONOR OUR WORD, and let's NEVER FORGET.Melissa M

I hope we all, if not already up, put a flag outside our homes at this time, and show the neighbors what is important. Leave it up, or put it back on Veterans Day!!! Mine, will always wave... Like Melissa said, NEVER FORGET.mmm, pizza...

Pray for healing for the nation, pray for people to respect each other on 9/11 (a most solemn day), and thank a veteran for following his conscience.

[glow=red,2,300]It is pretty hypocritic to fly "ole glory" on 9/11. Our stars and bars need to be proudly shown everyday that we wake up, leave and come home in safety! I think about America's worst attack on home soil regularly but our flag needs to be flown everyday with pride not just on a day that some folks want acknowledgement for being patriots![/glow]

After 9/11, my entire subdivision proudly displayed their flags everyday!!!!! Now, out of about 100 houses, mine is one of three with the flag..... I can't imagine the action of taking it down..... with no intention of putting it back up....... Melissa M

September 11 will be my 21st wedding anniversary. On 9/11, my husband wanted me to play hookie from work and go golfing with him but I couldn't - I had 2 'important' meetings. I walked into my office and the TV was on - my admin was crying and I saw what was on the news... at the time, I worked across the street from Sears tower... almost as soon as I realized what was happening, security was not only evacuating our building - the police were evacuating downtown Chicago. It was all surreal - I was sitting on the train heading back to the burbs getting a blow by blow from my husband who was watching the news - first one building collapsed, then the next (I was on the train a LONG time). When I got home, we were ill with the realization of what had probably happened... and crazy with trying to figure out how we talk about this with our young children. Bad guys got on a plane and flew it into a building so they could kill a LOT of people - because they hate America... at the time, I flew A LOT for my job - my kids were terrified for me. I was terrified for them.
I share this because there was so much I took for granted that morning when I left for work - I didn't have time for the man who swept me off my feet when I was only 23 years old to honor our wedding vows. It's funny how we get so screwed up, isn't it? Life gets in the way of LIVING. 9/11 was a blessing, in a way. Let's not forget the sacrifice - let's honor the memories of the men and women who lost their lives on that day and the men and the women who are fighting to keep us safe since then. Let's honor the people we love by LIVING - you never know when another 9/11 will hit you (or a Katrina, or another disaster). As Americans, we will prevail - as a loving people, we must never forget.

Harley, I thank you so much for sharing this with us. It is so sad that it always seems to take something so catastrophic, to wake us up. It is even more sad, once we have had an awakening, to ever let ourselves fall back asleep... A friend of mine was talking to his fiance on the phone, as well, giving her the "blow by blow". Although, she was in Tower 2 at the time..... She had one more week in New York, before she was coming to Michigan to marry him, and start their lives together. I never met her, but she has influenced my life tremendously. Her name was Jennifer Louise Fialko. She had beaten cancer, as a child... Often times I ask myself, how much worse does it have to get, for people to wake up and stop letting life get, "in the way of living"? Again, I thank you for sharing this with us, and reminding us how very precious it all is.....Melissa M P.S. I was thinking of suggesting that you and your husband renew your wedding vows on a different day, maybe a sunny day in July, so that you could have a beautiful day, just for yourselves... But, then I thought, a wedding anniversary on that day is probably the most stark reminder, to love each other, every single day, as if it were your last.....Have a beautiful anniversary celebration this year, Harley! Happy Anniversary, and many, many more!

HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN
I hear people saying we don't need this war I say there's some things worth fighting for What about our freedom and this piece of ground? We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in Before you start preaching Let me ask you this my friend
CHORUS 1 Have you forgotten how it felt that day To see your homeland under fire And her people blown away? Have you forgotten when those towers fell? We had neighbors still inside Going through a living hell And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden Have you forgotten?
They took all the footage off my T.V. Said it's too disturbing for you and me It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say If it was up to me I'd show it every day Some say this country's just out looking for a fight After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right
CHORUS 1 Have you forgotten how it felt that day To see your homeland under fire And her people blown away? Have you forgotten when those towers fell? We had neighbors still inside Going through a living hell And we vowed to get the ones behind Bin Laden Have you forgotten?
I've been there with the soldiers Who've gone away to war And you can bet that they remember Just what they're fighting for
CHORUS 2 Have you forgotten all the people killed? Yes, some went down like heroes in that Pennsylvania field Have you forgotten about our Pentagon? All the loved ones that we lost And those left to carry on Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout Bin Laden Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten? Have you forgotten?

Don't ever forget September 11, 2001.
RinoHUNTER shared these words with me the other night... "History is a vast early warning system".
Be warned.......

And we must attain justice. Today is a day of prayer for all of those who have been affected by 9-11.
