"There are at least 2400 smart people in Wisconsin"And we had over 45,000 in California...I had plenty of supporters perplexed while I played patriotic songs on my trombone on the street entrance to Reagan Library and Kodak Theater debate venues before Super Tuesday, with a fair amount of reporters noting and cameras rolling as I explained that there were folks planning to vote, since Fred was still on the ballot and could garner delegates.
Especially since the "endorsement" has not been backed up by any real provinence by Fred that I've seen, let's continue to grow that blip on the msm radar.
They may have McCain in their sights now, which is to be expected. Let's hope that as we build a coalition based on integrity and principles, that Fred is stealthily watching.
This is a response I sent to an email I received questioning whether Fred had endorsed McCain:
Hello Ms Sharon -
What I discovered was that Libby Quaid was the original writer of the "alleged" Thompson endorsement. The article broke with Michael Shear of the Washington Post. When I contacted Michael he advised me that he got the story off the AP wire authored by Liz Sidoti of the Reading (PA) Eagle. However, Ms. Sidoti's article was not published until two hours and thirteen minutes after Shear pulled it off the wire. Shear published his article just over one hour before Sidoti's article was published.
here's the story i based my report on.
please note the 9th graf.
if you have any further questions, let me know.

The Sidoti article was then reposted the next morning, Saturday 2-9-08 with that date. Things were looking very fishy at this point. Then several media outlets began reporting on the alleged endorsement all parroting Sidoti. So I did more digging.
I found the original author of the article to be AP writer Libby Quaid, assigned to the McCain campaign. Ms. Quaid writes all things McCain:

Libby Quaid is the AP writer that was attributed to the anti-Thompson media and all the previous "alleged" Thompson endorsements of McCain.
What else is extremely interesting is that Libby Quaid and Liz Sidoti quote the Thompson endorsement differently:
By LIBBY QUAID, Associated Press Writer Fri Feb 8, 6:04 PM ET
He earned the backing late Friday of one prominent conservative, one-time rival and former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson.
"Through his character and determination, John McCain has effectively beaten the field in the primary. It is time for Republicans to acknowledge the fact that, in Senator McCain we have a man who can win in November at a time that odds will be against us," Thompson said in a statement.

One conservative on board is Thompson, who said late Friday he was endorsing his former rival.
"This is no longer about past preferences or differences. It is about what is best for our country and for me that means that Republican should close ranks behind John McCain," Thompson said in a statement.
Why didn't Michael Shear comment outright that he received the Libby Quaid article? I can only assume that Michael Shear was trying to cover for credibility knowing that Libby Quaid has developed a reputation for publishing bogus articles on the candidates. It probably has to do, as well, with the credibility issue of something coming directly from the McCain campaign.
Since the two AP writers, Quaid and Sidoti, have very differing quotes of the "alleged" Thompson endorsement, I come to the conclusion that Fred Thompson has not endorsed John McCain. You might also recall that it was the AP doing the hit jobs on Thompson: AP Gives Thompson the ‘04 Treatment www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=24127
My conclusion is that the McCain campaign is in serious trouble. McCain cannot unify the party factions and, as a result, he is in for one huge surprise at the Republican National Convention. It is going to be well worth watching McCain go down in defeat. That is my opinion.
I hope I have answered your questions. Please feel free to pass this email along to anyone you wish. Everything in it is verifiable.
Sincerely,
Krell
