Asking for donations, which I have not given since the whole Amnesty debacle! BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT I HAVE DONE? ? I have sent them PESOS!!!!!! I have written IN BIG, BLACK MARKER, "NO AMNESTY" right across the sheet that they send to fill in for your donation!!!! AND THEN DO YOU KNOW WHAT I DO? ? I SEND IT BACK TO THEM - ON THEIR DIME!!!!!!!! As Rinohunter says, LET THEM KNOW !!!!!!!!!! Melissa M.

I think I'll just hog the Sunshine then! Thanks again Melissa, it is so nice to have someone like you share your kind comments! I am fired up today, and the ONLY thing that makes sense to me is We The People taking care of business. Sure, Fred got out. Sure, he finished third in a couple of places. Then UnCommited Voters said no to Jaun McChange over and over as well as real republicans. Conservatives. That was all spun into place by the MSM, No Fire In The Belly? Get ready America to see what kind of Fire In The Belly comes from ACTUAL AMERICANS!

I listened to Rush's show today and many many people said that they were going to stay home now. If we run into despondent Conservatives who are going to stay home, we should encourage them to write in Fred instead. As Quinn said this morning, there are enough of us that an independent or 3rd party (or write in) might just work.

Man o man, it just keeps getting worse, conservatism in the federal government is as good as dead for at least the next 4 years. Of course, this does not mean I'm surrendering my conservative principles to any d**n liberal! It's just going to make November's decision a pure headbanger. Huckabee is a liberal liar, a false prophet, and Paul's views on foreign policy scare the hell out of me, they're as naive and destructive as Obama's and Hillary's. The only way I could ever imagine voting for McCain is if Fred Dalton Thompson was on the ticket with him, and I'd still hear gnashing of teeth. The chances of this happening are slim to none though, in light of what Fred said, I'm not running for second place (of course when you think about it, he's actually not running now...hmmmm). Anyway, unless I see Fred's name on a ticket, I'll just have to stick with my gut feeling and "write in" Fred Dalton Thompson. I feel that's better than just not voting, or voting for a hypocrite. I know some will say that is a wasted vote, a vote for the Dems, but I'll tell you two things. First, if Obama gets the nomination, and it looks like he just might, he will clean McCain's clock which will render that worry a mute point. Second, and most important, as much as the Republican party needs to come back together, so does America. We are such a divided nation now, thanks in part to devisive news media and politicians. The extreme far right doesn't understand anything about tolerance, and the extreme liberal left doesn't understand anything about most things it seems. The left especially appears to have zero comprehension of the dangerous times we live in, and the resolve to do what is necessary to protect America. Maybe the next four years is what it will take to once again wake America up. "Stand Strong" people!
P.S. keep writing those "letters to the editor" and to Rush and Mark, etc., blogging, and reaching out keeping the movement going and growing.

Charles, Good to see you here! There is something else we can do. Demand Conservatism from the GOP. Write in Fred, that's OK, but that only sends a message we are willing to wait. We can't afford to wait, IMO.
Stand Strong. Always.

WOW!
I live on the left coast here in silicon valley and it takes me nearly an hour to catch up on these posts after I get home from my VFW meeting. Lots of good comments but I think if we bring it all in perspective, everyone makes a lot of sense if we do different things at the proper time.
First off, Melissa and rino are correct, we need to let the RNC hear our voice and let them know loud and clear where we stand on the issues and that we don't like the idea of supporting McCain.
Next thought is that if McCain is really spineless and caves into whatever will get him what he wants, then he should cave to the pressure of us conservatives.
About trying to support Fred by writing him in, we are doing the Democrats a favor.... whatever we do must be good for the country wether or not Fred comes back on the scene. I mentioned in my posting about Mitt dropping out that I should now leave the party or shut up.... I was hasty making that comment. I think I should stay and not shut up. I should put some action behind my words:
During a phone banking for Fred, I met the county chairman of the Republican party. During a short conversation, he asked me if I'd be willing to assist in a city council campaign after the Feb 5th primary. I think I will assist the council member, but I'm also going to have a conversation with the chairman about our current situation and not only get his take on it, but let him know how we all feel about McCain and the current state of our party. This maybe a more effective way of pressuring the GOP or at least making them realize what we really mean to the party.
Fred said to stand strong, I now understand that to mean that we "DON'T CUT AND RUN!" we are conservatives, we are patriots, not liberals!!!

I agree with Thompson, and also with Michelle Malkin (which is a surprise). Malkin wrote today: Sen. McCain told conservatives to "calm down." My advice is exactly the opposite: Get fired up.
Some on the right advise their readers and listeners to vote Democrat or sit home. My advice is exactly the opposite: Get off the couch and walk the walk for conservative candidates and officeholders who need all the help they can get defending free markets, free minds and secure borders -- no matter who takes the White House in November.
Dissatisfied with the flawed crop of GOP candidates who lacked the energy, organizational skills and ideological strength to carry the conservative banner and ignite your passions? Then pay attention to the next generation of Republican state legislators who do vote consistently to lower your taxes, uphold the sanctity of life, defend marriage and cut government spending. Support their re-election bids. Reward them for standing with you, instead of their Democrat opponents and the liberal media. This goes along with what I was asking rinohunter in another thread. It sounds like MM is saying we just lick our wounds on this one, and come back better prepared and better organized next time. One way to do that, of course, is to support local candidates who practice the same fred-thompson-style conservatism we're all looking for in leaders.
