Brad - My answers to your questions.
For whom will you be voting in November? I am uncommitted at this point. But, I'm looking at some third party candidates that I kind of line up with. Wayne Root is looking pretty good so far. I don't like his pathway to citizenship stance, but I don't know the fine that he wants to impose. If it's punative enough to make it untenable for most of the illegals to be able to pay it, I could get on board with it. But, I will not be voting for either of the major party candidates. I can answer that with a certainty. If I don't find a 3rd party guy to fit my needs the POTUS slot will remain blank on my ballot, as I go to the poll to elect the conservatives necessary to win at least one house of the Congress back.
Can the Republican Party be rehabilitated to the point to suit you? Yes, I believe that it can, but to do so would require wholesale change in the leadership of the party, and I don't foresee that happening.
Are you leaving the party? I didn't have to leave the party. The party left me. If you are asking if I am changing my party affiliation, I already have. I'm a registered independent now.
Will you be happy if the Dem nominee (Obama or Hillary) wins the Presidency? I will not be happy if any of the presumptive or potential nominees from either party wins the Presidency. This is why I won't vote for McCain. He is no more "pleasing" to me or my principles than the other two, so I honestly don't care who wins the Presidency amongst the candidates for the two major parties. I see no substantial policy difference between any of them.
Do you believe John McCain is guilty of treason? No, I do not. I belive that he served with honor. It's what he has done since the Keating 5 investigations that has caused all of my problems with his policy stances. Please, do not read that as I think he was involved or should have been implicated in the Keating 5 situation. What I'm saying is that, the fact that he was investigated by his own party has influenced him in a way as to make him buck the conservatives within the party.
For whom do you think Fred will be voting? I don't know. Nor do I care. Fred is his own man, and once he enters that booth it's up to him to decide who he is going to vote for. He certainly isn't going to tell me who I am going to vote for.
